Giving Back to Community

Squirrel Pantry Program

The Squirrel Pantry Program is built on the belief that no family in our community should struggle alone, especially when one in eight households in America faces food insecurity or needs help with basic essentials at some point. Many of these households look like the clients and neighbors Squirrel Insurance serves every day hard‑working, middle class families who simply hit a rough patch—job changes, medical bills, or other unexpected expenses that suddenly make groceries and toiletries hard to afford. Our goal is to quietly step in during those times with practical support and a lot of heart.

How the program works

Through the Squirrel Pantry Program, we assemble pantry boxes filled with staple food items and everyday necessities like toiletries and household products for families in temporary need. Families are identified through our client relationships, local churches, schools, and community partners, as well as confidential referrals. Once a family is identified, a pantry box is prepared based on household size and needs, and then coordinated for a simple and dignified pickup or delivery.

How it’s funded and matched

The Squirrel Pantry Program is funded through a combination of Squirrel Insurance’s own contributions and the generosity of our customers and community partners. As a growing company, Squirrel commits a portion of its resources to support pantry boxes on an ongoing basis and also adds to the impact of customer donations whenever possible, without promising a strict dollar‑for‑dollar match. This approach allows the program to remain sustainable while still maximizing the help that reaches families in need.

Customer support program

Customers can support the program by contributing financially or donating approved nonperishable food and toiletry items, knowing that Squirrel Insurance will regularly put additional company funds toward expanding the number of pantry boxes distributed. Larger community gifts, business sponsorships, and special drives with local churches and schools also help increase the program’s reach, with Squirrel contributing alongside these efforts as resources allow.

How customers and partners can help

Customers can participate by adding a donation when they work with Squirrel Insurance, dropping off approved nonperishable food and toiletry items, or supporting special drives we run throughout the year. Local churches and schools partner with us by identifying families in need, hosting collection events, and helping with distribution when appropriate. Together—with our clients, faith communities, schools, and business partners—the Squirrel Pantry Program transforms simple pantry boxes into a community-wide support system for neighbors who just need a hand getting through a tough season.

FreqUEntly asked questions

How is my premium determined, and what factors affect the cost?

Your premium is based on a few key factors: the amount of coverage you select, the level of risk associated with what you are insuring (e.g., your driving history, home's age, or health profile), and your deductible amount. Choosing a higher deductible typically lowers your monthly premium, as you take on more risk before the insurance pays out.

How do I file a claim, and what documents do I need to speed up the process?

You can typically file a claim directly through our website, mobile app, or by calling our 24/7 claims line. To speed up the process, you should immediately gather photos of the damage, police reports (if applicable), and detailed receipts or records of the items involved.

What is the difference between my deductible and my premium?

Your premium is the recurring amount you pay (usually monthly or annually) to keep your insurance policy active. Your deductible is the amount you agree to pay out-of-pocket before your insurance coverage starts paying for a covered claim.
